UnityPoint Health is a nonprofit integrated healthcare system based in West Des Moines, Iowa, serving Iowa, western Illinois, and southern Wisconsin. It was formed in 1993 from the merger of Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Iowa Methodist Medical Center and rebranded in 2013. As of 2023, it is the fifth largest non-denominational health system in the U.S., managing nearly 8 million patient visits each year, including around 100,000 surgeries and over 20,000 births. The organization employs between 29,000 and 32,000 people and generates approximately $4.3 to $5 billion in revenue. UnityPoint Health offers a wide range of healthcare services, including primary care, urgent care, surgical care, maternity services, and home health. It operates numerous facilities, including trauma centers and hospitals, and emphasizes accessible, personalized care for both metropolitan and rural communities. The system also supports community health initiatives and utilizes a shared electronic medical record system to enhance care coordination.
