About NorthShore University HealthSystem

NorthShore University HealthSystem is an integrated healthcare delivery system formed in 2022 through the merger of NorthShore University Health System and Edward-Elmhurst Health. It operates a nine-hospital group, with its roots tracing back to the founding of Evanston Hospital in 1891. The system has evolved over the years, including a name change in 2008 and the addition of several hospitals, such as Swedish Hospital and Northwest Community Hospital. The health system offers a wide range of healthcare services across various specialties, including cardiac care, cancer care, neurological services, and orthopaedic services. It features a Level II Trauma Center and a Primary Stroke Center, along with outpatient rehabilitation and primary care physician practices. The NorthShore Research Institute supports numerous research projects and serves as a training site for the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine. NorthShore is also dedicated to community health initiatives, providing free care and collaborating with local organizations to enhance community well-being.
