About New York Structural Biology Center

The New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) is a nonprofit consortium established in 1999 by nine leading biomedical research institutions in New York. Its mission is to provide shared access to advanced structural biology resources, fostering collaboration on large-scale projects. The main facility, located on the City College of New York campus, opened in 2002 and has become a recognized center for cryo-electron microscopy and innovative technology development. NYSBC offers a range of services, including access to advanced NMR spectrometers, X-ray crystallography systems, and cryoEM suites. It supports high-throughput protein production and provides training and expert assistance for researchers. The center's resources enable collaborative projects that would be challenging for individual labs, particularly in the study of macromolecular structures. Members include prestigious institutions like The Rockefeller University and Columbia University, contributing to a shared infrastructure valued at $75 million.
