About Boston MedFlight

Boston MedFlight, also known as New England Life Flight, is a nonprofit critical care transport organization established in 1985 by a group of Boston teaching hospitals. It provides emergency scene response and interfacility transfers across Eastern Massachusetts and beyond, utilizing helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and ground ambulances. The organization has transported over 80,000 patients, including more than 1,500 pediatric and neonatal cases annually, serving a wide range of medical emergencies. The services offered by Boston MedFlight include advanced critical care transport for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients facing various medical conditions. Each mission is staffed by a critical care nurse and paramedic, equipped to deliver hospital-level interventions. The fleet consists of 17 ICU-equipped vehicles, including helicopters, ground ambulances, and fixed-wing aircraft, all operating under FAA certification. Boston MedFlight is committed to providing care to all patients, regardless of their insurance status, and contributes significantly to the community through free and unreimbursed care.
